#eduWhy?

Because it’s nice to meet nice people.

We’ve given you dozens of reasons why edUi is going to be amazing this year (food trucks, a musical jam session, a drawing lesson, a drone demo) but one of the best reasons to go to any conference is the people you’ll meet.

If you’re used to showing up at a bar for a drink with your fellow conference attendees and not knowing what to say, leave that expectation at home when you come to edUi, because our networking events are different.

JourneyGroup

Pre-Conference Meetup

We’ll grab some food and drinks at Journey Group’s Charlottesville headquarters. This meetup will include a self-guided tour through the art of storytelling.

Live Storytelling Event

At our opening night reception, you’ll be treated to some spectacular stories, told live from the stage without notes. If you’ve ever listened to The Moth podcast you’ll have a sense of what it’s like when the pros do it. We’ll do our best to give them a run for their money when we bring you stories on the theme “Double Take.”

Songs in the Key of edUi

We’ve discovered there are a lot of musicians in the edUi crowd, so we’ve organized a special jam session during the opening night reception. Bring an instrument to play along or just bring your ears to sit in and listen.

Wine Loves Chocolate

Sample some Virginia wines and pair them with select gourmet chocolates at Wine Loves Chocolate in downtown Charlottesville. [NOTE: This outing turned out to be super popular (big surprise) and is now fully booked (sorry!).]

Art Gallery Talk

If you crave great art, we’ve got a fantastic outing for you on Tuesday night during the conference. Second Street Gallery director Warren Craghead will host a gallery talk about their exhibit on women working in Egyptian film, Beyond Classification.

Ghost Walk

edUi takes place just a week after Halloween, so we’re treating you to a spooky tour of downtown Charlottesville with your fellow attendees. Tell Me About it Tours will walk you through a grisly murder that took place in Charlottesville in 1904 and resulted in the last public hanging in the state of Virginia. [NOTE: This outing is also already booked to capacity (sorry again!).]
