Rockin’ It as the Sole Person Responsible for the Website

edUi sessions are full of people who can talk knowledgeably about being an information architect or a content strategist or a web designer. Unfortunately, not every institution has an entire team devoted to its website. For many of us, everything about the website is handled by a single person who likely has other responsibilities as well. What does user experience design look like when it’s only a small fraction of your job? How about content strategy? Information architecture? Graphic design? Web development and programming? How do you balance priorities, draw in non-website colleagues to support the cause, and get things done?

This public square is an opportunity for those of us who are website “teams of one” to get together and learn from each other.

What You'll Discuss:

  • The way you do the things you do: What tips, tricks, and resources have really paid off for you?
  • Shout, shout, let it all out: How do you overcome all the horrible things your colleagues ask you to do to the website, and eventually bring those colleagues on board with modern best practices?
  • R-E-S-P-E-C-T: How do you prove the value of time spent on usability, design, etc. to skeptical Powers That Be?
  • Where do we go from here?: Other burning issues on anyone’s mind.
